First Sunday in January, Texas-style

After rather warm temperatures for the first few days in January, today was decidedly cooler! But that didn't stop us from venturing out in search of the Mt. Carmel Hermitage Monastery in Christoval, TX.

Our directions were not the best however and we ended up in the small Texas hill-country town of Menard, where we were blessed with the fellowship of the congregation of the United Methodist Church and its pastor, the Rev. Leigh Gregg. It seemed that everyone there was excited to hear about the visitors from Sidney, NE (the home of Cabella's)!

Following worship, we had lunch with Pastor Leigh at the wonderful Side Oats Cafe` in Menard. What a wonderful time of fellowship and the food, yum! We managed to get in some shopping at the "Country Store" which is always on the "to do" list for travelers to and from San Antonio and San Angelo.
