The weather today was clear and cold which made for excellent site-seeing weather. We went in search of a chocolate factory we'd heard about but found on the way there that it was closed for tours this month. So we headed down to the old part of Colorado Springs and visited Grace & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (www.graceandststephens.org) which was just beautiful and fully engaged in its community. We also visited The First United Methodist Church (www.fumc-cs.org). 1st UMC really caught our attention as its approach to children's ministry is nothing short of WOW!
With a lot to mull over after those two churches, we found a neat restaurant where we could consider what we'd seen called: La Creperie. Located across the street from the Acacia City park, this small bistro had some of the best food we've had on our trip: The crepes were perfectly done and the potato & leek soup was awesome!
That excellent lunch enable us to press forward into the rest of the day. Belinda was taken back to the Hammitt household in Monument for a relaxing afternoon with Rob & family. It was so much fun relaxing with her "bro" and the family, and the time spent with the puppies added to the experience for everyone!
Charles in the meantime headed back to Colorado Springs to visit the Cheyene Mountain Zoo (www.cmzoo.org) which has a well-deserved reputation for its stunning location. An unexpecteed bonus for visiting the zoo was the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun (www.cmzoo.org/shrine.html). This memorial to the famous American has incredible views and the drive up that twsting, icy road was well worth the exprience waiting for Charles at the top.
After the zoo, Charles noticed a sign pointing to the World Figure Skating Museum and Hall of Fame (www.worldskatingmuseum.org) and this hidden gem of a museum is well worth the time and cost (only $3.00 admission). While not a figure skating fan per se, Charles commented that this was one of the better sports museums because it had something for both the serious fan and the casual fan too.

We wrapped up the day with an superb stew prepared by Chef Rob and a trip down memory lane looking at the photos from the Hammitt family's trip to Cornwall, Wales, England and France last summer. It was so much fun reliving those exciting three weeks!!!
Tomorrow it is church in Monument and off on the road again!
