Well, here we are, back in Omaha and it feels great to be back!
After leaving Carthage, MO this morning, we stopped for breakfast in Lamar, Mo which is the birthplace of Pres. Harry Truman. It was fascinating to see how much people in this part of the world still admire this man. Since we had seen his birthplace, we decided to visit Independence, MO, location of the Truman Presidential Library and Museum (www.trumanlibrary.org). This is a really good museum and has many fascinating interactive exhibits. The Truman's home, which they shared for many years (www.nps.gov/hstr) and where Bess Truman continued to live following the President's death, is also open for visits.
We drove through several periods of heavy rain north of Saint Joseph, MO which made getting to Omaha a bit of a chore. But we made it in good order and are ready to tackle our chores here in the morning.
