The Weekend in Ft. Morgan

Well, here we are, at the brink of our new life in Sidney, Nebraska! What a journey it has been, and while there are still some things to take care of this week before the move into the parsonage, we are so ready to get started!!!

Saturday morning in Monument, CO was spent getting everything re-packed and ready for the last week on the road. In the afternoon, we drove first to Englewood, CO (just south of Denver) to the Cokesbury store, where we picked up a few items and met a fellow clergy-person from Alliance, NE! Small world!
Then it was on to Ft. Morgan, where we had been invited to spend the evening with the Rev. Phil & Joanne Tarman. Phil is the pastor of First UMC of Ft. Morgan, the church where Charles was to preach the next day. Turns out that Phil knew Charles' Aunt Joyce as did several others we met at the church.

Today was a FULL day - worship services at 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. and an indoor picnic with Phil, Joanne and Phil's charming mother (who enjoyed watching the US Open with Charles & Phil). We had a great time at each of the services, and the congregation there was wonderful.

After the service, Phil took us by the boyhood home of Glen Miller! It was a treat, and next time we pass that way, we'll be sure to look around this charming town more!

Tonight we are in Big Springs, NE, just east of Sidney. Tomorrow we will drop off the boxes (in Sidney) that we brought from Monument (we had some things in storage at the Hammitt house). Then it is on to Cheyene, Wyoming, where we have some VA matters to attend to.

Hope your Father's Day weekend was a good one and your week to come is a great one!
